By Air
Several major airlines have scheduled flights to the island during peak
season (May to October).
- Many
flights come through Boston including USAirway
and Delta.
- USAirways
and Continental
have direct flights to Nantucket from New York and Newark in
peak season.
- Cape
Air

Bedford and Providence. These run year round.
- From the
Boston area, you can also drive to Hyannis and take a commuter
flight run by Nantucket
Airlines or Island
Airlines. This flight is approximately 15 minutes.
By Boat
Ferries leave
from Hyannis and take approximately 2 1/2 hours to the island. There is
a high speed ferry which takes 1 hour, but you must make a reservation
to get on this in high season.
- Steamship
Authority
This ferry takes passengers and cars. Reservations for cars are difficult
to get and must be made months in advance.
- Hy-Line
Cruises
This ferry is for people only
Once on the
island, you may want to rent a car. There are several agencies
that rent at the airport:
Alternatively,
you can also rent a bike to get around.Young's
Bicycle Shop is one place. If you decide to rent a moped, I
will do my best to run you over. When you get to the island, the reason
for this will be self evident.
